Tokyo Olympics Will be Postponed
International Olympic Committee has decided that the upcoming Tokyo Games will be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic
According to an International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound, it has been decided that the upcoming Tokyo Games will be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Mr Pound said that the Olympics will not start as per the original schedule (July 24) and will be pushed to 2021.The IOC will further make an announcement regarding the next steps soon.
The announcement will be made in stages.Postponing the Olympics is not a small thing. Many decisions will have to be taken and the situation has to be properly managed. The Olympic Committee in Canada decided to not send the athletes to Tokyo Olympics, the Australian Olympic Committee also asked their athletes to begin Olympic preparation for the summer of 2021.The National Olympic committees in Brazil and Slovenia also supported the postponement to next year.
