Traffic Police To Fine Fancy Number Plates
The Mumbai Traffic police has decided to fine vehicles that have fancy number plates.
If you have a fancy number plate on your vehicle you need to be very careful. Since January, Traffic Police in Mumbai have fined 2,272 vehicles for having fancy number plates. The traffic police said that, The Motor Vehicles Act has strict rules about number plates. For example, the number plate must be clear and readable. The registered number and letters must be in black and white. Fancy letters, numbers, names or pictures are not allowed.
A traffic police officer said that many times people use numbers to resemble letters. Like 8055 is made to look like ‘Boss’. The maker of the number plate create different designs using the font, size and letters. This is breaking the rules, as the police find it hard to read the number plates. The officer said that imagine is a car speeds across a police check post at night and does not stop for checking. If the number plate is clear then can immediately note down the number and file a complaint. But if it is not clear they can not write down the number and they can’t track down the vehicle. This way people who break rules can easily run away. This is why the Traffic police have decided to fine such vehicles and be very strict.
