Uddhav Thackeray Allows Industries to Start Work
Uddhav Thackeray announced industries that are ready to provide accommodation to their workers during the lockdown will be allowed to function.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on 19th April said industries based in green and orange zones of the state will be allowed to resume operations, but in a restricted manner. The industries will have to arrange the accommodation for their workers. They would not travel long distances for work.Thackeray said borders of all districts would remain sealed and only essential services movement would be allowed.
There are no restrictions on movement of agriculture produce and farm equipment. All the essential items will remain exempted from the lockdown restrictions. The chief minister also said his government will take care of all migrant labourers in the state. He said that he will arrange for their travel back to their hometowns as soon as the coronavirus crisis ends.
Almost 75 percent of COVID-19 patients are asymptomatic, which is a good sign. There are dedicated fever, cough and cold clinics in the state. People should go there for check-ups without any hesitation. Mr Thackeray said over 66,000 tests have been conducted in the state so far. 95 per cent of these are negative. Around 3600 are positive, 300-350 of these have recovered and have been discharged. 75 per cent are either mildly symptomatic or asymptomatic. 52 patients are serious.Till 18th April there were 211 deaths.Punjab and Delhi have announced that the strict lockdown restrictions will remain to control COVID-19.
