UNSC Stops Pakistan’s Plan to List Indians as Terrorist
Pakistan’s proposal to designate two Indians as terrorists has been blocked by 5 UNSC members. Watch our latest for more details.
The UNSC is the United Nations Security Council. Pakistan with China’s support had proposed to name two Indians Angara Appaji and Gobinda Patnaik Duggivalasa as terrorists. Pakistan had said that these Indians were responsible for terrorist activities in Pakistan & Afghanistan. However, UNSC members - US, UK, France, Germany and Belgium - have voted against Pakistan’s proposal and blocked their move to list the Indian’s as terrorists. The 5 member countries voted against Pakistan because there wasn’t any proof.
This is not the first time that Pakistan has tried to list Indian nationals as terrorists. Previously Pakistan tried to designate Indian nationals, Venumadhav Dongara and Ajoy Mistry as terrorists but Pakistan was blocked by the US in June this year.According to sources Pakistan is desperately trying to get Indian nationals listed as terrorists. Pakistan is tracking Indian nationals working on developmental projects in Afghanistan and then creating stories around them and linking them to terrorist activities in Pakistan. India believes Pakistan is doing this because they are angry with the UN for listing Masood Azhar as a global terrorist last year.
