Villagers Stunned by Human Baby Sized Giant Frog
Villagers in the Solomon Islands were left stunned after coming across a giant frog, described as being as big as a human baby.
Villagers in the Solomon Islands found a giant frog. After seeing the frog, they were stunned. They said that it was as big as a human baby. A photo was taken by Honiara resident Jimmy Hugo. In the photo there is a young boy holding the frog. Mr Jimmy said that mill workers found the frog in April. He then shared a photo of the giant frog on Facebook. This has created a huge buzz on social media. Lot of people are interested in knowing about this frog. The picture has gone viral on Facebook. It has been shared more than 800 times and has received thousands of reactions. Mr Hugo said that he was very surprised to see how people reacted to the picture. At first, he thought only a few people would see it and then suddenly he saw lots and lots of people commenting. The frog’s species is Cornufer guppyi. In the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea is also known as "bush chicken". It is hunted by locals and people eat its meat. Mr. Jimmy said that bush chicken is more delicious than chicken. Even experts are surprised by its size. Jodi Rowley is the custodian at the Australian Museum. He said that he has never seen one that big. He also said that It is very rare that they get so big, so this one must have been quite old. These frogs are today facing a decline in population due to habitat loss and pollution.
