Weddings to follow Social Distancing

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, big fat Indian weddings, have gone through a drastic makeover. Watch our latest video to learn more.

Weddings in India are famous for pomp and shows. With the spread of the coronavirus and the lockdown, a lot of such weddings had to be postponed. However now due to the COVID outbreak, some people organized virtual weddings i.e. online wedding ceremonies. Some organized the wedding only with a few family members and did the ceremony in the house/building. Some wedding planners have said that now people have to plan smaller weddings because the government has ordered only 50 guests at the function. After the lockdown and the COVID – 19, weddings will need sanitizing, masks etc. But that should not lessen the fun of the occasion and the enjoyment should be the same. People just have to follow social distancing rules and be safe.

Now wearing masks has become a style statement. Brides and grooms are matching the masks to their outfits. Even guests are doing the same. Now it will not be possible to have a destination wedding or weddings at a resort, because of the spread of COVID-19. Hotels, banquet halls, etc are entering into agreements with clients which make social distancing compulsory. Many are also keeping gaps between two bookings so that the venue and rooms can be sanitized. The number of guests will also be limited. People whose earlier budget was Rs 15-20 lakh are now spending only around Rs 5-6 lakh for these smaller weddings. Some wedding plans are not encouraging any weddings till November or December. They suggest that local weddings should be around November-December 2020 and international weddings around March 2021.
