Did you observe some new symbols on the stadiums’ walls, the scorecards & around the trophy? These beautiful symbols are a feature addition to the Men’s World Cup logo by the ICC. The ICC did this to highlight the fact that India is the first single nation to conduct the World Cup since 2007 tournament. There are a total of nine symbols. These symbols are designed in Pink, Blue, Indigo, Yellow & Red colors. The ICC took inspiration from the concept of ‘Navarasa.’ The word ‘navarasa’ means nine emotions & is often used in Indian theatres. The ICC wanted to depict nine emotions in the cricketing context because it is the most loved sport in India. Here are the nine symbols & the emotions that they represent:
1. JOY – this symbol represents joy. The joy a fan feels when he cheers for his favorite team and when his favorite team wins or his favorite player makes a century.
