Woman Saved From Car Swept Away In Haryana River
A viral video from Haryana shows a woman stuck inside a car was saved by bystanders.
A car parked near a river in Haryana's Panchkula was swept away after heavy rain lashed the area on 25th June 2023. In a video, the car was seen in the midst of a river of muddy water. Reports revealed that the vehicle was parked by a woman who came there to offer prayers at a nearby temple. After offering the prayers, the river was already overflowing. She sat in the car but had no chance to turn or move the car. The car then got swept away with the woman inside. The woman was rescued by eyewitnesses with the help of ropes. She was later admitted to a nearby hospital. Efforts were on to remove the vehicle from the river with the help of a crane.
Meanwhile a video of rain water seeping in inside Mumbai-Indore Avantika Express went viral on social media on 24th June 2023. The passengers travelling in the second AC coach of the train got drenched after a stream of water started flowing in from the air conditioning vents of their coach. A railway staff was seen cleaning the floor after the water from the vents blocked the passway.
In other news, a portion of a ground-plus-three floor residential building collapsed in the Ghatkopar’s Rajawadi area of Mumbai on 25th June morning. According to BMC, 2 residents were stranded in the building and the rescue operation was underway. Meanwhile, 2 elderly persons died when a part of a balcony, of a ground plus two storey building crashed in Mumbai's Vile Parle.
On the first day of the monsoon on 24th June, the BMC's claim of having kept the city "rain ready" was completely exposed as hollow. Despite the rains not being heavy, several areas experienced major flooding, severely disrupting vehicular traffic. BMC was accused of not being able to stop flooding of Andheri Subway. According to the BMC, 6 water pumps and flood gates have been installed in the area to cope with heavy rain. BMC workers retrieved a fridge, beds, cupboards, tarpaulins, rubber pipes and other items from the Mogra canal which flows near the Andheri subway and caused its flooding. The debris had blocked the storm water drainage system. The junk pulled out of drains from Mogra nullah indicated that BMC alone is not responsible for the monsoon mess.
