World Cup 2019: India vs New Zealand
Millions of Indians all over the world were heartbroken when India lost the semi-finals to New Zealand in the World Cup yesterday.
Yesterday the match resumed on the reserve day for the semi-final against New Zealand. They scored 28 runs in 23 balls they had left. They scored 239-8 in there 50 overs. This seemed like an easy score for our batsmen. When India started batting, they started losing wickets to New Zealand bowlers. India was left at 5-3 in the 4th over. By the 10th over it was 24-4 with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul all got out and scored only one run each. Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik trying to put a partnership. They scored 32 runs each but got out. In 31 overs India had scored 94-6.
The pressure then fell on Dhoni and Jadeja to win the game as there was no more real batsman left, only bowlers. Jadeja was in form, hitting boundaries and tried his best to score runs. They hoped that in the last 5 overs India would be able to achieve the score. Jadeja scored 77 runs in 59 balls before being caught out. He and Dhoni had a partnership of 116 runs.India still had hope. Dhoni was known for his closing skills. 2 overs left India needed 31 runs, people still believed we could win.On the first ball of the 48th over Dhoni hit the ball into the stadium for a six. But on the 3rd ball, Dhoni fell to a runout, after a super throw by Martin Guptill. This ended India’s hopes of winning. The last two wickets fell in just a few balls and India was all out for 221 runs in 49.3 overs.
After the match the Indian team and all the fans were very dejected and sad over the loss, many experts saying this could have been MS Dhoni’s last match. Many believe he will be announcing his retirement very soon. Australia will play England today to decide who will play New Zealand in the Finals on Sunday, July 14th.
