Yasin Malik Punished With Lifetime Imprisonment | Kashmir Files

Kashmiri separatist Yasin Malik who was accused for terror funding earlier was sentenced to life in prison by a special Delhi court on 25th May, Wednesday- Watch full story

Yasin Malik was the leader of the JKLF, a group that worked to separate Kashmir from India. He was also responsible for the genocide and the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits. He was arrested by the Indian government for funding and encouraging terrorist activities in J&K. He was in jail for a long time. His case was going on for a long time in the special NIA (National Investigation Agency) court. The National Investigation Agency had demanded the maximum punishment, the death penalty. But Mallik had accepted all his crimes in a terror funding case and demanded life imprisonment. He said that since 1994 he stopped using guns and killing people. From 1994 he has started following the principles of Mahatma Gandhi and people from 1994. After 1994 he said that when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was PM, the Indian government gave him a passport and allowed him to travel and speak around the world. The government did not think he was a terrorist that time thats why they gave him a passport. So the court should not give him the death penalty. However yesterday on 25 May the court announced its verdict  saying that Mallik will be in jail for life. After the decision parts of Srinagar witnessed a shutdown on Wednesday as a reaction to the verdict. Shops and other business establishments were shut in some parts of the city. Stone pelting and protest demonstrations were reported from a few places.

Security officials have been deployed in the sensitive areas of Srinagar to avoid any violence and protest.

Now the court has also filed a case against many other dangerous criminals who had killed Kashmiri Pandits and who supported Mallik to  fight against the Kashmiri Pandits. The most important terrorist against whom a case has been filed is  Farooq Ahmed Dar alias Bitta Karate. You all will know him from the movie Kashmir Files. The punishment of life imprisonment given to Yasin Malik by the court is definetley a milestone decision as it will bring justice to all those families who have lost their close ones in the Kashmir valley over the last few years.
