5 Ayurvedic Food Items To Manage Diabetes

Diabetes is growing rapidly in India, There were 72 million people who had diabetes in 2017. Diabetes causes frequent urination, fatigue, and nausea, it can also lead to dangerous health issues like heart disease, kidney damage, skin conditions, and even depression. However, with a healthy diet changes, it can be managed.Here are five Ayurvedic foods (and some tips) to regulate your blood sugar levels.
 

1. Gooseberry/Amla:

You all know about Amla. It is a very sour fruit which many people do not like. However it is Packed with Vitamin C, iron, and calcium. Amla helps to regulate sugar levels in the body. It also helps to keep you healthy and avoid dangerous diseases. It also strengthens your eyesight, skin, immunity, and digestion. At least once a day eat it fresh drink its juice. 2.  Turmeric/Haldi:

3.  Fenugreek/Methi Seeds:

4.  Black Plum/Jamun: 

Jamun is the top food for treating diabetes. It is extremely high in vitamins and slows down the production of sugar in the body. So try eating it as often as you can. 

5. Bitter Gourd/Karela: 

I am sure you all have made a face the minute I said Karela. However this bad tasting vegetable has many benefits. This vegetable helps to lose weight and it is very good for the skin, but is very good for diabetic patients helps with sugar levels. So try to drink Karela juice once a day and see the benefits yourself. 

Any food items that can increase blood sugar levels should be avoided. These include excessively sugary drinks (sodas/juices/sports drinks), processed foods, honey, sweetened curd, sugary coffee, white bread, pasta, and breakfast cereals (with added sugars), etc. Break your daily diet into smaller portions.
