100% Use of Voting Machine in Lok Sabha Elections
Election Commission, confirms the use of VVPAT voting machines in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.
A man from Chennai filed a petition in the Madras High Court, asking whether the Election Commission is going to use the VVPAT for 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail or VVPAT is a machine that will help the citizens confirm whether their vote has gone to the candidate they voted for or not.
Once a vote has been placed, the VVPAT machine will generate a printed slip. The voter will be able to see the candidate he/she has voted for on that slip. This slip will only last for 7 seconds, after which it will disappear.
The Election Commission said that this machine will be used for all the elections. We will have to wait and watch how these machines perform during the elections.
