10-Yr-Girl Cycles From Kashmir To Kanyakumari
A 10-year-old girl from Thane, Maharashtra cycled 3,600km from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in 38 days.
A 10-year-old girl from Thane, Maharashtra cycled 3,600km from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in 38 days. She had earlier cycled between cities in Maharashtra and had also set several swimming records.
Saee Patil, a resident of Thane, Maharashtra, accompanied by her father, went for this expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari with an aim to spread awareness about the hazards of vehicular pollution and save the girl child. She started her voyage on 16th December 2021 and completed it on 20th January 2022 i.e just 38 days. She pedaled for 120 km a day to visit schools and other places to spread her message of saving the girl child and highlighting the hazards of vehicular pollution. Sai Patil began to show interest in cycling and swimming at a very little age of six. She was practicing for this expedition for a year. As a part of training, she would cover 50 km every day. While her mother ensured the maintenance of her healthy diet. Patil was motivated by her father to make several such journeys every time. When Sai returned home, she was warmly welcomed by the residents of Thane. They took out a procession with Patil sitting on an adorned chariot and felicitated her at a function. She now aims to cycle from India to Russia.
Earlier, a 6-year-old boy from Chennai had created a world record for cycling by covering over 100 km non-stop. Also, an 80-year-old man cycled 4500 km from Kerala to Ladakh & celebrated his birthday in Khardung La. Be it for the young or old, every feat is achievable when there is a strong passion for it.
