15 Foreign Officials Visit J&K
15 envoys from different countries are visiting Jammu and Kashmir to inspect the current situation. Watch the video for further information.
In August 2019, Kashmir's government revoking Article 370 and made J&K a Union Territory. The government knew the people of J&K would not be happy and there would be violent protests. This is why the government put Kashmir under a heavy blanket of security, suspended modes of communication, and detained politicians who could spark tensions. All over the world people said the Indian government is violating the Kashmiris human rights. However the Indian government is now saying that the situation is much better and it is improving.15 envoys from different countries are visiting Jammu and Kashmir yesterday. This is the second time. Envoys from US, South Korea, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Maldives, Morocco, Fiji, Norway, Philippines, Argentina, Peru, Niger, Nigeria, Togo, and Guyana, are part of the team.
Raveesh Kumar, an official with the Ministry of External Affairs spoke to the media on Thursday and said, the envoys were taken to J&K to show them that the government is doing everything to make the situation normal in J&K and that all the people are happy and safe. He said the envoys will first meet with security officials.
However, the team doesn't include representatives of the European Union, as some of them wanted more access and wished to meet people of their own choice.But Kumar virtually dismissed these allegations by saying, "We wanted this group to be of manageable size and make it broad-based representing different geographical regions."He said not everyone was extended an invitation.Jammu & Kashmir National Conference a political party in J&K has said that this is a staged visit. The government will make the envoys meet very few people and they will not be allowed to roam about freely. So how will they know what is really happening in J&K?
