25,000 Troops Pour into Washington For Biden’s Inauguration
Thousands of military personnel guarding Joe Biden’s inauguration as US president are being vetted by the FBI amid fears of an insider attack.
Earlier this month, a crowd of supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump had stormed the US Capitol.
Now United States President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration is on 20th January in Washington D.C. USA’s defense officials are worried about an insider attack from military personnel. 25,000 military personnel coming into Washington D.C for Joe Biden’s inauguration as US president on 20th January. Defence Officials are concerned these military personnel assigned to protect the city could present a threat to Biden and other dignitaries.Because of this the military people are being vetted by the FBI. Their names will be fed through an FBI database for any evidence of connections to investigations or terrorism or other red flags. Washington D.C has become a fortress, with barricades, razor wire and 7ft fences erected to prevent a repeat of the deadly 6 January attack on the US Capitol by a mob incited by Donald Trump. Hundreds of troops wearing combat fatigues, body armour and helmets could be seen outside the heavily guarded Capitol building and the Library of Congress. Currently officials say they have no strong information about an attack but they are leaving no stone unturned in securing the capital.
