32% Water Stock Left in Maharashtra Dams

Maharashtra has a total of 3,267 dams. According to the Water Resources Department in 2018, these dams had a water stock of 47.74%. In 2019 however,It is only 32%.
The situation is worse in Aurangabad. Last year Aurangabad had 42.67% water stock in their dams. This year there is only 7%. Dams in Nashik and Amravati are also facing severe water shortage.Inconsistent rainfall last year, and also no rainfall for a very long time has lead the dams not filling to their full capacity.
Chandrakant Patil Minister of Public Works Department said that, the Maharashtra state government has sent 2,636 water tankers to rural and semi-rural areas that are facing a shortage of drinking water. The water dams is used for drinking, agriculture, and for industrial purposes. The severe water shortage is big problem to all the farmers as well.
