53-Year-Old Woman Kept Chained for the Last 36 Years
A woman named Sapna Jain, who is now 53 years old, was kept tied in chains in a dark, dingy room for the last 36 years.
In an extremely shocking incident, a woman named Sapna Jain, who is now 53 years old, was kept tied in chains in a dark, dingy room for the last 36 years. This evil was done by her own father, who believed that she was ‘mentally ill’. Her father used to throw water so that she could take a ‘bath’ and food was slid to her from beneath the door. This shocking incident came to light when a BJP MLA came from Hathras. Anjula Mahaur was informed of Sapna’s condition by the members of a local NGO, Seva Bharati. The MLA, along with the help of the local NGO, finally helped to rescue the woman. Sapna’s father, Girish Chand, had passed away recently and a group of women from the organisation went to examine the situation after that. Nirmala Singh, a senior member of Seva Bharati, said that they found her in a very bad condition.
As per our sources, she was wearing dirty clothes with dirt all over. NGO members bathed her and got her some clean clothes. The MLA, meanwhile, spoke to Sapna’s family and got her shifted to a mental health facility in Agra. Anjula Mauhar said Sapna was imprisoned as a minor. She was chained inside a dingy room for most of her life and had not seen the outside world since the age of 17. The MLA said she knew something needed to be done once she heard about this. Gyanendra Singh, a doctor who examined her, said her medical tests are being conducted and they are hopeful that she will recover soon, maybe within a few weeks. However, Sapna’s family refused to comment on Sapna and her condition. Meanwhile, some of her neighbours said that they knew about the woman's condition and had repeatedly told the family to consult a doctor, but her family advised them to stay away from their family matter.
