According to a recent survey, Sixty-nine percent of people living in Afghanistan chose India as Afghanistan's best friend country. A survey was conducted which gathered data on the common people's assessment of their past and current condition, and their future aspirations. Data from the survey shows that more than 69 percent of Afghan people believe that India is Afghanistan’s best friend. Both the countries have very ancient historic and cultural ties. Despite all the efforts of Pakistan to spoil India’s relationship with Afghanistan still, India-Afghanistan relations at the people-to-people level have remained good. They believe that India's help has been diverse, ranging from building infrastructure to send teams of medical staff and food to Afghanistan.
A new Parliament building in Kabul is also a gift from India to Afghanistan. People of Afghanistan have been coming to India for medical treatment. Also, Afghan students in large numbers have been enrolled in Indian colleges and universities. The Indian Military Academy (Dehradun) has been regularly accepting Afghan students. India has also been among the most generous suppliers of humanitarian aid to Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. Trade between the two countries has not blossomed largely because of Pakistan's interference, refusing to open its land route to Indian exports to Afghanistan. The Survey data shows that more than 67 percent of Afghans believe that the mistimed and mismanaged exit by the United States gave Pakistan and China the opportunity to encourage the Taliban to take over Kabul,
According to it, data revealed that most people believe that the previous government was corrupt and the aid provided by the foreign countries never reached the needy and believe that the Taliban's takeover happened due to the corruption of local leaders. The survey also stated that people believe that the Taliban received a large portion of foreign assistance from neighbouring countries but was not passed on to the Afghan people.
In other words, the majority of the Afghans believe that the foreign aid itself was mismanaged and diverted to help the Taliban topple the elected government. According to the data collected in this study, the majority of Afghans want elections for choosing the leaders, who can represent them and they are not happy with the Taliban rule.
