Actor Govinda Shoots Himself Accidentally; Admitted to ICU

Bollywood star Govinda accidentally shot himself at home while handling his licensed revolver, underwent successful surgery, and is now out of danger.

Bollywood superstar Govinda, known for his excellent comic timing and dancing skills, accidentally shot himself on 1st October 2024 at his Mumbai home. The accident happened while he was handling his licensed revolver around 4:45 am, just before leaving for the airport to catch a flight to Kolkata.

Reports say that Govinda had just finished cleaning his revolver and was placing it in the cupboard when the trigger got accidentally pressed, and a bullet hit him below his left knee. His wife, Sunita Ahuja, was already in Kolkata at the time.

Govinda’s daughter, Tina Ahuja, rushed him to their family doctor, Dr. Agarwal, in Juhu around 5:00 am. Dr. Agarwal then brought him to CritiCare Asia Multispeciality Hospital, where Govinda had an X-ray. The doctors found that the bullet was still stuck in his leg, so he underwent surgery to remove it.

The surgery was successful, and Govinda is now out of danger. Dr. Agarwal said, “He is comfortable now. He will stay in the hospital for 1-2 days. He got 8-10 stitches, but everything else is fine.”

Later in the evening, Govinda released an audio message from the hospital saying, "Namaste, pranam. I was shot, but the bullet has been removed. I thank the doctors, especially Dr. Agarwal ji, and all of you for your prayers and support."

Govinda’s brother, Kirti Kumar, called the incident “strange” and said Govinda was “lucky to survive.”

The police have started an investigation, and Govinda’s licensed revolver has been seized. A Mumbai Crime Branch official also visited the hospital to talk to Govinda, and security outside his Juhu home has been increased.

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde called Govinda to check on his health and wished him a speedy recovery.
