Afghan Cricketer Rashid Khan’s Family Stuck in Kabul
With the situation in Afghanistan going from bad to worse with each passing moment, cricketers Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, worried about the state of affairs in Afghanistan.
As Taliban swiftly regained control of Afghanistan after US troops withdrawal. Many in Afghanistan were stuck due to sudden turn of events. Rashid Khan, who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League & is currently in England playing the tournament called ‘The Hundred’ for the team named Trent Rockets. Upon hearing the news of the Taliban gaining control over his country, he was deeply troubled and could not sleep. Khan was very disturbed as he was not able to help his family leave the country on time.
He recently tweeted, "Dear World Leaders! My country is in chaos, thousands of innocent people, including children & women, get martyred everyday, houses & properties being destroyed. Thousand families displaced..Don't leave us in chaos. Stop killing Afghans & destroying Afghanistan. We want peace” Rashid has also been urging people to donate to his Rashid Khan Foundation and Afghanistan Cricket Association to help all those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Keeping his problems aside Rashid played a taking 3/16.
Rashid’s teammate Mohammad Nabi, also playing in the Hundred had recently left England to be with his ailing mother. He also asked all the other countries to help and support Afghanistan in this time of crisis. Meanwhile Sunrisers Hyderabad has said that both Nabi and Rashid will be available for the rescheduled IPL to be held in UAE.
