Ankita Lokhande Refused Films To Marry Sushant
Sushant Singh Rajput’s ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande, has opened up about turning down movie roles for her relationship with Sushant.
Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande had met on the sets of Ekta Kapoor's TV serial Pavitra Rishta. As Maanav and Archana, they became household names. They were both in a relationship for more than 6 years and were going to get married. Rajput made his Bollywood debut in 2013 with Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che! And became very popular. He went on to do many films. However, Rajput and lokhande never spoke about their relationship. They kept their personal life very private. The couple broke up in 2016. The breakup had left Ankita extremely heartbroken and she has now revealed how it affected her career. Ankita revealed that she had suicidal thoughts and had to give up several big movie projects in order to focus on their relationship.
She said, “I rejected Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Sultan & Badlapur for Sushant Singh Rajput. Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir had said to me that I will regret it later but then I was like, "No sir, I want to get married.”Ankita Lokhande had made her Bollywood debut with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. She had played the role of Jhalkari Bai in the film and gained huge appreciation for her performance. She revealed, “After the breakup, I realised it is very important to understand your worth and I started to work on myself.”
Lokhande added that she now understands the importance of work-life balance. Lokhande further said that she has no regrets that she gave up opportunities for her relationship "I was trying to build a man and I did that. I was trying to be a very strong support for Sushant, and I did it,”
Ankita said it was never easy for her to get into television and movies. Before she acted in serials, she was asked to sleep with a producer for a role. She had flat out refused. Despite this she never gave up and continued to struggle. Finally she got a TV serial role. After she became popular, when she wanted a movie role, she was asked to sleep with a producer again. But she refused and walked out. The producer then apologised and offered her the role but she said she will not work with such people.
Her hardwork has finally paid off and she is now very successful.
