Athlete Wins Gold in Olympics Because of Condoms

Australian slalom canoeist Jessica Fox recently won a bronze and a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics - and she has a condom to thank for it. Watch our latest video to learn more about it.

Since the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games started there have been many viral videos in which you can see athletes being angry, confused, sad, disappointed, happy etc during their various matches. 27-year-old Jessica Fox from Australia, won a bronze & a gold medal in canoeing. Fox said the reason she won the medal was because of condoms. Isn’t that such a strange statement! Before reaching the finals and winning the gold medal, Fox faced many challenges. In some matches, her canoe suffered a lot of damage. To fix the damage they did not have a lot of time. What had happened is that the tip of the canoe had started peeling and was badly damaged. She used a sticky paste to fix it and then covered the portion using the condom. The video of her doing this went viral.

Fox said that because she was able to fix her canoe with the condom, she was able to reach the finals and win her gold medal. It is really wonderful that people come up with unique ideas to overcome their challenges.

Now you might wonder, how did this athlete have a condom with her during the Olympics. Well  the organisers of the Olympics in Tokyo handed out 60,000 condoms to all the athletes, but encouraged athletes to use them in their home countries, rather than during the Olympics. Fox must be happy to receive the condoms because of which she won 2 medals.
