Bangladesh Puts Drones Near Border, India On High Alert
Tensions rise as Bangladesh deploys drones at the India border and interferes with temple renovations in India.
In our previous video on the Bangladesh crisis, we saw how Hindus and other minorities are facing attacks from radical groups. Many had hoped that with Muhammad Yunus becoming Chief Adviser, the situation would improve, but it seems to be getting worse.
Recently, reports have revealed that Bangladesh has placed dangerous Bayraktar TB2 drones, made by Turkey, at its border with India. These drones, which cost around ?40 to ?50 crore each, can be used for attacks. Bangladesh now has six of these drones stationed along the India border. Pakistan had also placed similar drones last year. However, India has strong anti-drone defense systems, so there is no need for concern.
Meanwhile, a shocking incident occurred near the Kushiyara River along the India-Bangladesh border in Assam's Sribhumi district. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) crossed into India by boat to stop the renovation of a Hindu temple, claiming it would offend Muslims in Bangladesh. The Assam government had recently approved ?3 lakhs for the renovation of the Manasa Temple. When the Bangladesh guards threatened the workers, India’s Border Security Force (BSF) intervened and made sure the situation did not escalate.
This act by Bangladesh is troubling, as it shows their increasing hostility towards India and its Hindu community. Interestingly, India has many Bangladeshis living here, but they don’t face discrimination like minorities in Bangladesh.
In another development, Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made her first statement about the ongoing crisis. Speaking to her supporters in New York, she accused student leaders and Yunus of being responsible for the violence against Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians. Hasina also claimed that opposition leaders planned to harm her and her sister, Sheikh Rehana.
The political situation in Bangladesh is uncertain, as Hasina has yet to issue a resignation letter. For elections to take place, the Prime Minister must step down, but Hasina has not done so. Bangladesh authorities recently issued an arrest warrant against her, and there are reports suggesting pressure on Yunus to ban Hasina’s Awami League party from elections.
India’s Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, is scheduled to visit Dhaka to meet Bangladesh authorities and discuss the relationship between the two nations.
Indian Muslims, including well-known figures like SY Quraishi and Najeeb Jung, have condemned the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh and called on the government to protect them. Their support for Hindus in Bangladesh highlights India's stability and unity.
