A 29 year old UPSC aspirant who was hundred percent blind since birth and has now secured 48th rank in civil services examination across the country.

Blind Girl Becomes an IAS Officer was Blind since birth, but this 29-year-old did not allow the challenges of her disability to stop her from achieving her goals. Ayushi, is a resident of Rani Khera in Uttar Prtadesh. She teaches history at a Delhi government school. She completed her schooling from a private school in her village Rani Khera and graduated from Delhi University’s Shyama Prasad Mukherji College. Later, she pursued a Master’s degree in history from IGNOU. She appeared for the UPSC exam. This was her fifth attempt. She has secured the 48th rank in the Civil Services exam 2021, the results of which were declared on 30th May. She was studying and simultaneously performing her duties as a history teacher in a school. Her father works with a private firm in Punjab while her mother is a housewife. Her husband is currently pursuing an MBA from Australia.
She gave credit for her success to her mother who took early retirement to support her daughter with her education. She said her family used to record the content of books so that she could study.
Ayushi after cracking the civil services exam is extremely happy as it was her childhood dream to become an IAS officer. She wants to work for the betterment of girl education and women empowerment. She has proven that disabilities are not a barrier to achieve your dreams and that you can do anything.
