Blinkit Launches 10-Minute Ambulance Service in Gurugram
Blinkit is testing its new 10-minute ambulance service with 5 ambulances in the selected areas of Gurugram to provide affordable, quick & reliable ambulance services in India.
On 2nd January 2025, Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced & started a new Blinkit service. Blinkit users will now be able to order ambulance services to their doorstep in just 10 minutes in case of emergencies. Currently, the service is only available in Gurugram with 5 ambulances under the testing phase. All the ambulances are equipped with essential life-saving equipment including oxygen cylinders, defibrillators, stretchers, monitors, and essential emergency medicines and injections. Apart from this, every ambulance comes with a trained paramedic, an assistant, and a driver. In the announcement post on X (Twitter), Dhindsa wrote that this service is their 1st step towards solving the problem of lack of quick & reliable ambulance service in India. He added that as the service expands within Gurugram and in other cities, Blinkit will also initiate the option of booking a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance through its app. While Dhindsa did not reveal the charges of this 10-minute ambulance service, he stated that “profit is not a goal" for it. He assured Blinkit would operate the service at an affordable cost for customers and focus on truly solving the critical problem of India’s lack of quick & reliable ambulance service in India. However, an Indian Express report states that the price of the service is ?2,000 and that it does not support neonatal or ventilator care yet.
Dhindsa added that Blinkit is slowly & carefully scaling up this service as it is both important & new to them and revealed Blinkit’s plan of expanding the service in all major Indian cities within 2 years. Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma appreciated the service & congratulated Dhindsa on it in Dhindsa’s X (Twitter) post comment section. Many netizens also appreciated Blinkit's 10-minute ambulance service on social media. However, many also expressed concerns over the service having a “surge price” during high demand.
