Bowler Breaks Stumps over 30 Lakh in IPL Twice
Let us look at why the Mumbai-Punjab match in IPL and Arshdeep Singh made the headlines.
You already must know that the IPL - Indian Premier League is currently going on.
On 22nd April, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings played against each other in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The game became very interesting in the last over. Mumbai Indians needed 16 runs in the last 6 balls. Arshdeep Singh was the bowler from Punjab Kings for the last over.
He took 2 consecutive wickets of 2 batsmen from Mumbai Indians. A lot of blowers have taken 2 back to back wickets but this was historical. Do you know why? In the first wicket, the middle stump literally broke in half. Not only this, but the same thing was repeated in the second wicket. The middle stump again broke in half.
Now, because of this incident, social media is going crazy over the cost of stumps used in IPL.
Do you know how much do the stumps in IPL cost? The IPL uses LED stumps. The bails (small things kept on top of stumps) also have sensors that light up as soon as they move from the position. By this, a wicket can be easily determined. There is also a stump camera located at the bottom of the stump. That does not come with the stumps. Its fitting is done differently. As per media, the total set of the stumps cost somewhere between INR 30 to 40 Lakhs. These stumps are very expensive because of the LEDs, cameras, sensors and the microphone wiring placed inside them.
