Car Sinks into Well at Ghatkopar, Mumbai
A video of a Hyundai Venue car sinking into a caved-in portion of a parking lot on the premises of a Ghatkopar residential society has gone viral on social media.
In a bizarre incident on 13th June morning, in Mumbai, Ghatkopar’s Ramnivas society, a Hyundai Venue car sank after a portion of the parking lot caved in. The video went viral all over social media. No injuries were reported as there was no one inside the car. The car belonged to Kiran Doshi, a 67-year-old doctor.
The traffic police were the first to reach the spot. According to them, the car was parked on a well that was covered with a cement slab. The parking area was constructed over an old well in Ramnivas building.
This was done by the society. The police said that due to heavy rains and the weight of the car, the land caved in. By evening, the authorities started the process of pumping water out of the collapsed portion of the parking space to locate the car. The traffic police authorities, with the help of the BMC officials, managed to remove the car from the well around 9 pm.
The BMC said the incident has nothing to do with the civic body as it happened on a private housing society’s premises. An insurance expert said that, depending on the type of insurance and the scale of damage, insurance can be claimed.
