In a strange incident a petition has been filed in the Madras High Court (MHC) asking for the arrest of Indian cricket skipper Virat Kohli and actress Tamannah for promoting online gambling. The petition was filed by a Chennai based advocate AP Suryaprakasam. He has asked for MHC to ban online gambling apps and take strict punishment against those who run such apps and websites. He stated that youngsters are getting addicted to it. As per the petitioner, unethical and immoral online gambling is being promoted by promising people initial wins. To attract innocent youngsters celebrities such as Virat Kohli and actresses such as Tamannah are hired for advertisement and brainwash youngsters. 

Real world gambling is prohibited but there is no corresponding law for online gambling. The lawyer has also mentioned the story of a youngster who died by suicide as he could not pay back the money he took for online gambling. The petitioner highlighted the increase in the number of suicide cases recently in Tamil Nadu as many youngsters died by suicide after losing plenty of money in online gambling. He said that youngsters borrow money at a high-interest rates and if they are not able to make a profit at these online gaming sites, then they commit suicide.
