Billions of Indians were eagerly waiting for the Vikram lander to land on the Moon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Yelahanka Air Base on Friday night to watch the landing from the ISRO centre. The descent of the Vikram lander started at 1:37 am. The landing would be done in two phases. The first phase was where the Lander will come out of the orbiter and enter the moon’s atmosphere at high speed. Once it entered the moon’s surface the first phase was absolutely successful. But as the lander started the controlled landing, it lost contact with ISRO. The lander was just 2.4km away from the moon’s surface. It's still not clear what caused this.

ISRO scientists are reviewing all the data before the connection was lost. The lander has cameras and sensors. Scientists are checking the Data to find out what really happened. The Lander can communicate with earth as well the orbiter which is the moon’s surface. Sources say that the Lander can communicate with the orbiter. ISRO scientists are checking all this. This data will take a long time to review. This is why they cancelled the press conference today morning. The entire country is waiting for information. PM Modi gave a 25-minute speech today morning and said that ISRO scientists did their best and the full country would support them. After his speech PM Modi met ISRO Chairman K Sivan. Chairman Sivan could not control his emotions and broke down. PM Modi hugged Sivan and asked him to remain strong. ISRO Scientists will review the data and make a detailed announcement soon. Fingers crossed let's hope for the best.
