With the number of coronavirus cases witnessing a surge, the Ahmedabad administration has decided to impose a complete curfew from Friday 20th November night to 23rd November. Only shops selling milk and medicines will remain open. From 23rd November a night curfew will be imposed every day from 9 pm to 6 am. The sudden rise in cases was due to the Diwali festivities.
Officials said an adequate number of beds have been made available for COVID-19 patients in city hospitals. Ahmedabad is now witnessing over 200 COVID-19 infections daily, the number was 125 to 130 daily cases a few months ago. Till now 1,949 people have died due to COVID-19. The Gujarat government also decided to put on hold the reopening of schools and colleges.
