Con Man Boards 15 Flights as Pilot
A Con man using a fake ID and uniform of Lufthansa to get luxurious privileges is caught by the police.
On Monday 18th November, at Delhi airport Lufthansa pilot was caught by the authority. This man was not a pilot. He dressed up like a lufthansa pilot to catch a flight to Kolkata on AirAsia India. This was not the first time he did this.Rajan Mahbubani would dress up like a pilot to board the flight. Has done this more than 15 times and was successful. When he pretended to be a pilot he would get good many perks such as free upgrades to business class lounge access, direct access to the plane without standing in the queue, etc.
He would enter using the passage normally taken by crew members for getting into the aircraft. He used to click pictures of himself in different uniforms like army colonel and would post videos on tiktok, to impress corporate clients and friends. Mahbubani told the authorities that he bought the fake pilot ID from Bangkok and used it in Delhi and Kolkata airports many times in the last six months.
He used the ID and introduced himself as a consultant for Lufthansa in Kolkata.On Monday when he was trying to catch the AirAsia flight he introduced himself as a pilot. The airline called Lufthansa so check as wearing Lufthansa’s uniform and had an identity card.Lufthansa sent its team to check on this person at the boarding gate of the Delhi airport.
When Madhubani was asked by the Lufthansa officials he admitted that he was pretending to be a pilot and he did it many times before.He was handed over to the airport police and an investigation has been ordered.His travel history will be scanned. An in-depth verification is also being done.
