Cyclone Nivar to Hit Andhra Pradesh
The IMD informed that the South coastal Andhra Pradesh is expected to be hit by Cyclone Nivar by November 25.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that the South coastal Andhra Pradesh is expected to be hit by Cyclone Nivar by Wednesday, November 25. The IMD also predicted that parts of Puducherry, parts of Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore district, Rayalaseema, and Chittoor District will receive heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning from Wednesday 25th till 27th Nov. The speed of the wind will up to 45-55 km/hr. As the weather worsens it can even increase to 75 km/hr. Farmers in coastal areas of AP have been advised to harvest crops before a cyclone begins.
Earlier, Andhra incurred losses to the tune of Rs. 4,500 crore after heavy rainfall sparked flooding in some areas. Yesterday Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba chaired a virtual meeting to review the preparation in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) has been kept on stand by to provide help.
