Cyclone Tauktae started on the 15th May & caused havoc in Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra. Flights at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport were halted for many hours due to the cyclone. The flights have now been resumed. On17th May, the Indian Navy received messages to rescue  people on board two barges near the Mumbai coast. Thereafter the Navy deployed three of its warships to rescue people. According to reports one of the boats sank and 146 people were rescued from it, while 127 are still missing. The rescue operation is getting delayed due to bad weather. In Mumbai hundreds of trees and street light poles fell damaging roads and vehicles. High tidal waves were seen in the Arabian sea near Mumbai. Have a look at destruction caused by rains in Mumbai. At least six people were killed and several injured in Maharashtra while eight people died in cyclone-affected coastal Karnataka.

Cyclone Tauktae made landfall between Diu and Una in Gujarat at around 8.30 pm on Monday, 17th May 2021. At around midnight, the weather officials said the storm has weakened and will continue to weaken further. The major ports and airports have been shut in Gujarat. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and wind due to the cyclone in different parts of Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. The change in weather will be witnessed on May 19 and 20 May. Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Chief Ministers of cyclone-affected States-Rajasthan, Maharashtra & Gujarat & Union Territory Dadra And Nagar Haveli to take an update about the situation & about any help they required from Centre.
