Dangerous Floods in Assam & Bihar
Heavy floods in Assam and Bihar has wreaked havoc. Lakhs of people are suffering.
This weekend it was raining very heavily in Assam and Bihar. On Monday out 33 districts in Assam 30 are flooded. 15 have died in Assam and 25 have died in Bihar due to the floods. 45 lakh people in the different villages of Assam are suffering. 25 lakh people are suffering due to floods in Bihar. 1.5 lakh hectares of farms in Assams are flooded. The floods have affected Nepal as well.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority report said eroads, bridges and many other infrastructure have been damaged at various places. Assam Ministry of Forest and Environment said that 90 % of Kaziranga National Park is flooded. The National park has 100 Rhinoceros. These are the highest in the world. The Rhinos are now forced to take shelter due to floods. Forest officials are on high alert. The Brahmaputra River’s water level is continually rising and it has become very dangerous. It has affected people living near the river. 26 teams of the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force have been deployed for carrying out relief and rescue operations in all the affected districts.Relief camps have been set up and food is being distributed among the people as well.
