In Vadodara city and surrounding areas in Central Gujarat there have been extremely heavy rains. In 24 hours, there were more than 500 mm of rain till Thursday morning. Five people died and over 5,700 were evacuated. The rains stopped on thursday morning. Even though the rain stopped most parts of Vadodara were flooded. The Vishwamitri River in Vadodara has many crocodiles. Due to heavy rains, the river started overflowing reached 34 feet. The crocodiles entered the city with the floodwaters. Videos of crocodiles near housing societies were uploaded on social media. More than 5,000 people have been shifted to safer areas due to rains and floods. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Army, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police and the Fire Brigade swam through waist high water to help rescue people. 

Five more NDRF teams from Pune have been called. Two helicopters of the Indian Air Force are at vadodara airport to help rescue people. Long queues were seen outside the milk shops to buy milk. People were very afraid as only a few shops were open. There were long lines to buy vegetables, food and milk. Gujarat is likely to receive heavy rains in the next three days.
