The investigation into the Delhi blast case has revealed a shocking terror plot by a JeM-linked white-collar terror module planning attacks in multiple Indian cities. The doctors involved in the plot were radicalised over the past five years while studying or interning in medical colleges. They were reportedly brainwashed using AI-generated videos showing Muslim genocide to fuel hate and recruit them for terror activities.
Key accused in the case include Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather, Muzaffar Ahmed Rather, Dr. Shaheen Saeed, Dr. Umar-un-Nabi (the suicide bomber), and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay from Kashmir. While most have been arrested, some suspects remain at large. Investigators said their radicalisation began in 2020 and that the group had been preparing for attacks for two years.
Dr. Shaheen Saeed, called “Madam Surgeon” by her associates, led the formation of terror teams made up of doctors. She only communicated with team leaders to avoid suspicion and maintain secrecy. Shaheen also helped set up the women’s wing of the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in India.
Investigators found that the module had planned as many as 32 car bombs in Delhi and other states. Diaries recovered from suspects’ rooms contained coded notes about the plot. The group also procured weapons, including Russian assault rifles, with the help of Dr Shaheen. One rifle was later recovered from Dr Adeel’s locker, marking a major breakthrough in tracing their arms network.
The Delhi blast probe has revealed a carefully organised network of radicalised medical professionals working for terror, highlighting the need for strict monitoring of vulnerable institutions and individuals.
