Delhi’s ‘Bois Locker Room’ Chat Leaked
An Instagram chat called as ‘Bois Locker Room’ where underage boys shared morphed photos of underage girls and spoke about raping them.
On 3rd May on a girl on Twitter posted that a group of teenage boys from South Delhi had a chat group on Instagram called as ‘Bois Locker Room’ where they shared morphed photos of underage girls and spoke about raping them. There were hundreds of boys in the group. The members of the group were discussing techniques of raping women and gang-raping minors.On Sunday 3 rd May, many screenshots of theirs became viral on social media. The screenshots showed that some of the members of the group were students of a top school in Delhi. Some of them were young 13-year-olds.
The school has filed a complaint at the Saket police station. After that FIR was registered. On Monday 4th May police took into custody one minor boy. The police have filed a case under the Information Technology Act. Delhi Commission for Women issued notice to Police and Instagram. They demanded that the police report what has been done in the case by 8th May. In their notice they said it is a serious matter. Online platforms are used for illegal activities. Some blamed the women and some defended the boys saying they did not rape any girls so it was not a big deal. Thousands of social media users expressed anger and people were furious. After this Boys Locker Room incidence, screenshots of ‘Girls Locker Room’ also became viral. In this chat the girls were sharing photos and body shaming boys.
Also a new Instagram page “Bois Locker Room 2.0” has been created and the admin has asked people to create fake accounts and follow the page so that no one catches them. This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred. Earlier in December 2019, students of a top-ranking school in Mumbai had shared sexual remarks about their female classmates on WhatsApp group. They also spoke about rape and mocked their classmates as gay and lesbian. Punishments for rapes and other such actions should be severe. To prevent another ‘Bois Locker Room’, we need to educate our boys and girls properly.
