Delhi Woman Runs Over Elderly Couple
A 79-year-old retired government official and his wife were run over by a car at Dwarka in western Delhi.
A CCTV video of a car running over an elderly couple has gone viral on social media. LEt me tell you what happened. Shanti Swaroop Arora (79) was a retired government official, while Anjana Arora (62) was a homemaker. They are residents of Appu Enclave at Dwarka in western Delhi. On 4th April evening the couple had gone out for an evening walk. Both of them were walking on the side of the road, when suddenly they were run over by a car. After the car ran over the couple, the driver got out. It was a woman named Deepakshi Choudhary. She was a resident of the same society. She immediately went to the back of the car and saw what happened. She then went back to get her mobile from her car and placed a call. When people saw what happened they rushed to help and tried to push the car from the bodies.
One of the victims is seen lying at the rear side of the vehicle. Both of them were unconscious but they died after being taken to the hospital. Police said Chaudhary did not flee the mishap spot and accompanied the injured couple to the hospital. She was at the hospital when the police team reached there after receiving a call about the accident. The woman was arrested by the police. A case of causing death by negligence and rash driving has been registered. A police officer said, “She said she was thinking about something when the incident happened and it is yet to be ascertained whether she was on a phone call. The woman was not drunk.” The woman has been released on bail. The couple’s son who is living in the USA has come back to India.
