Dhoni on Patrol Duties in J&K
Amidst a lot of controversy Dhoni’s request to work with the army has been accepted. He will serve in the army’s Parachute Regiment and will carry out patrol and guard duties in Kashmir.
Cricketer MS Dhoni and Olympics gold-medalist Abhinav Bindra were awarded the rank of an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel in 2011 in the military’s Parachute Regiment. After receiving the rank, he had said, "Since childhood, I had wanted to join the Army... I used to think that one day I will also be among them."
He even became a qualified para-trooper, after completing five parachute training jumps, in 2015. Recently he had made an announcement that he will be taking a 2-month break from cricket and would not participate in the India-West Indies cricket tour. He had requested to work with the Army.
Now the army has approved him to work with them. From 31st July he will be conducting patrol and guard duties in Kashmir. Dhoni will undergo training with jawans and live like any other soldier. Many fans were worried about his future in India cricket. Rumours suggest that he may make a comeback and play the India v/s New Zealand and South Africa T20Is in February 2020. He also play the next IPL season.
