Eknath Shinde Becomes the Chief Minister of Maharashtra
Shiv sena Rebel Eknath Shinde with the suppor of BJP has finally took oath as the next CM of Maharashtra, along with Devendra Fadnavis who would now serve as Shinde’s Deeputy in Maharashtra.
On Thursday 30th June, Eknath Shinde returned to Mumbai from Goa where he was staying after leaving Guwahati. He then met Devendra Fadnavis and the duo visited Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to stake claim for their government formation. When Uddhav Thackeray resigned, there were strong rumors that Fadnavis would become the CM and Shinde would be deputy. However, in a huge twist, Eknath Shinde became the CM of Maharashtra! This came as a huge shock. Now this is politics. No one knows what will happen till the very last moment! Now Shinde has announced an unofficial party called [ ‘Shiv Sena Balasaheb’. He has said he will follow the beliefs of Balasaheb Thackeray. They have been supported by the BJP. After Eknath Shinde took oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. There were rumours that Fadnavis was extremely unhappy that he was not made CM. The decision to make Shinde CM came from BJP’s senior leaders like BJP national chief JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah & PM Modi. These leaders convinced Fadnavis to become deputy but he had refused. After a lot of buttering, Fadnavis accepted and took the oath as Deputy CM. Soon after, both Shinde & Fadnavis took oath as the CM & deputy CM, Eknath Shinde changed his twitter profile picture and replaced it with the one in which he is seen sitting in the feet of Balasaheb Thackeray claiming to take his legacy forward.

After Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the deputy CM, he overruled Uddhav’s decision. He said he had decided to do the project in the Aarey forest and that project will continue as planned. This came as a huge shock to environmental activists. When Uddhav resigned and Shinde became president Kanaga Ranaut said, ‘Jab paap badh jayein, toh sarvnaash hota hai’. This is because Uddhav had demolished part of her home as she had broken BMC rules. Originally from Satara district of Maharashtra, Shinde came to Thane in the 70s as a child. He started off his career doing odd jobs including working at a beer brewery, driving an autorickshaw and working in a fishery before associating with the Shiv Sena in the 80s. His mentor was Anand Dighe on whom the latest movie Dharamveer is made and his other mentor was Balasaheb Thackeray. He is currently regarded as the tallest leader in the Shiv Sena after the Thackerays, and accessible to most Sena MLAs who can’t or are not provided appointments at Matoshree — the residence of Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.
