The Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-302 from Addis Ababa Capital of Ethiopia to Nairobi the Capital of Kenya crashed 6 minutes after take-off at 8:44 am. The flight had a total of 149 passengers and 8 crew members, Including four India. There are no survivors. The passengers were from 30 different countries.
The Aircraft was new and had been purchased on 15th November 2018. The pilot had an excellent flying record. The pilot sent a distress call to the Air traffic Control, who gave him clearance to return to the airport. Unfortunately, the flight was unable to return, It crashed and shattered into many pieces and it was severely burnt. Clothing and personal belongings were scattered all over the area. The cause of the crash is not known yet.
The aircraft was the Boeing 737 Max 8. This is same model as the Lion Air flight that crashed into the Java Sea after taking off from Jakarta, Indonesia. All the 189 people on the plane had died. No connection between these two crashes have been found yet. At Nairobi Airport, many relatives were waiting for their family members at the gate for hours with no information from airport authorities. They learned about the crash from journalists. The Kenyan officials came to the airport 5 hours after the crash.
According to the International Rules Ethiopia has to investigate the crash. America’s NTSB which is the National Transportation Safety Board will also participate in the investigation, because the plane was designed and built in America. The Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft will not fly, till the cause of the crash has been found.
