Mrinank has also been charged for scamming women & several multiple international sports accessories’ brands. He was caught & arrested by Delhi Police at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport when he was traveling to Hong Kong on 25th December 2023. According to the reports, 25 years old Mrinank was obsessed with living a luxurious life. His lifestyle involved staying at five-star hotels, partying with models, clicking photos with them, and traveling abroad with his girlfriends. To keep up with the expenses of his luxurious lifestyle, Mrinank scammed people and sports brands by faking identities and creating the impression of him being ‘popular.’ From 2014 to 2018, Mrinank often posed as an IPL cricketer for Mumbai Indians to influence women, dine in expensive restaurants and stay in five-star hotels without paying bills. Other times, Mrinank posed as a senior police officer from Karnataka. He cheated multiple people including cab drivers, young women, bars, restaurants, etc. and even India's star cricketer Rishabh Pant. According to the police, Mrinank told Pant that he was into the business of buying & selling luxury watches and jewelry. Trusting him because of being a former U-19 cricketer, Pant gave his several watches to Mrinank. In return, Mrinank gave Pant a cheque of ? 1.63 crore but it bounced. During 2022, Mrinank stayed at the Taj Palace hotel in New Delhi for a week and left without paying the total bill of ?5.53 lakhs by telling the staff that he was a cricketer and therefore, his bill would be settled by international sports brand - Adidas. He even shared fake card details & a bank ID transaction of ?2 lakhs with the hotel. The hotel tried to contact him several times asking him to clear his bills but he continued to give them false promises and later switched his phone off. The hotel then involved Delhi Police in the matter. The police sent many notices to Mrinank but he didn’t reply to anyone. Therefore, Delhi Police issued a look-out notice & non-bailable warrant against him. Knowing that Delhi Police were searching for him, Mrinank spread rumors and made his contacts & friends believe that he was settled in Dubai. Therefore, while traveling to Hong Kong, Mrinank was detained by immigration officers and handed over to the Delhi Police. To avoid being arrested, Mrinank used his backup identity. He posed as Mr. Alok Kumar, the Additional Director General of Karnataka Police. He then called multiple senior police officers and requested their assistance by saying that ‘his son Mrinank Singh who has been illegally detained’ at the Delhi airport. When that didn’t work, he tried to mislead the police by telling them that his father, Ashok Kumar Singh had played Cricket for India in the late 80s and is currently working as a manager of Air India at the Delhi's airport. Delhi Police confiscated his phone. They found several objectionable photos of him with women and incriminating materials including proof of drug purchases in his phone. According to the reports, the Delhi Police had also met with Mrinank’s father who told them that Mrinank has been disowned by his family as "they had no control over him.” The police have registered several cases in different states against him & Mrinank has been sent to police custody until further investigation.
