Foreign Ministers Promises to Regain Control of PoK
Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has promised that the Indian government will leave no stone unturned till it regains complete control over Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
Since Independence Pakistan has maintained that India has no right over J&K. There have been wars and a lot of firing at the LOC as well. Earlier, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) was a part of Jammu Kashmir. However in 1947, Pakistan had invaded and captured PoK. Pakistan then divided POK into 2 parts i.e Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The area of Azad Kashmir is 3 times larger than the Indian portion of Kashmir and is spread over 13,300 square kilometers. It has a population of about 45 lacs. Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) claims it has formed its own government but in reality it is controlled by the government of Pakistan.
Now, After the repeal of article 370 now the Indian people are demanding to recapture the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). On Tuesday 17th September, PM Modi’s government completed 100 days. On that day Foreign Minister S Jaishankar addressed a press conference and said, India’s views have always been very clear about PoK. PoK is part of India and one day India will have full control over it.
The Indian government said that from now on if India sits with Pakistan for a discussion, it will only be to talk about PoK. The Indian government will not discuss anything about J&K.
This is because Pakistan has no power to talk about J&K. S Jaishankar said that Pakistan has illegally captured PoK and India will make sure they take it back.
