FSWCD Supports Deaf For Ramadan During Lockdown
Kerala’s Friends Sports & Welfare Club of the Deaf (FSWCD) has distributed food, masks, sanitizers, etc to the Deaf to help them observe the Ramadan fasts and protect against COVID-19.
India's lockdown due to COVID-19 has been extended for the third time. The Indian economy has suffered a major blow and many are unemployed. We hope India can remain united to battle COVID-19. This unity will ensure our lives get back to normal. Currently Muslims in India are observing the Ramadan fast. Despite the COVID-19 outbreak they have decided to observe the fast. This is all due to their strong faith in God.
In Perinthalmanna, Kerala, Deaf associations had decided to extend their support. Friends Sports & Welfare Club of the Deaf (FSWCD) was founded in 2002. Since then their objective has been to encourage Deaf individuals to be more social by conducting recreational activities. Their aim is to encourage sports among the Deaf so they can be selected for major tournaments.
Every Wednesday they conduct lectures. The Deaf individuals find it very interesting. The President of FSWCD is Ashraf Kunnath and their General Secretary is Abdul Samad M.T. The FSWCD had decided to support all the Deaf persons and they would support the rich and poor alike. They decided to support them, by providing the most important item to protect against COVID-19 i.e Masks & Hand Sanitisers. These were ordered in bulk. Since people are fasting for Ramadan, they decided to distribute food as well.
How wonderful! FSWCD and their Chairman, Nasar Palakkal - sign name - who is Deaf also contributed funds. The FSWCD Board members also participated and helped to make the food packages. A few of the Board members also contributed and they are united to help the Deaf. First they purchased all the items and the masks and sanitizers were separated into packages. We are very proud to see associations like the FSWCD supporting the Deaf Community in such difficult times.
