Fully Vaccinated Persons Can Enter Mumbai Without RT-PCR
The Maharashtra government has announced that passengers flying to Mumbai, who are fully vaccinated do not need to carry negative RT-PCR reports.
According to a Maharashtra Health Department official, 7,603 new coronavirus cases and 53 fatalities were reported on 12 July 2021. Taking the total number of infections uptil now to 61,65,402 and number of deaths to 1,26,024. Experts have repeatedly warned against complacency to prevent a third wave of the coronavirus.
In May, following the surge in daily Covid-19 cases across the country, the Maharashtra government had tightened rules for travel to the state, making a negative RT-PCR test report, obtained 48 hours in advance, mandatory for all travellers. Currently States such as Delhi, Punjab and Chandigarh have already allowed entry without an RT-PCR test.
Mumbai BMC Commissioner IS Chahal had sent a letter to Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte saying, “Many citizens who are fully vaccinated are requesting authorities to waive off the condition with respect to carrying a negative RT-PCR test report. There are many passengers who are taking up journeys to Delhi and other places for business purposes in the morning and returning on the same day or the next morning and in such cases, conducting RT-PCR tests and getting the report becomes impossible.”
The Maharashtra government has now announced that, passengers flying to Mumbai, Maharashtra, who have received both the shots of COVID-19 vaccine will no longer need to carry negative RT-PCR test reports.
