Gas leak Reported in Mumbai
A gas like smell started spreading in the suburbs of Mumbai from Powai to Mira Road panicking residents.
A gas like smell started spreading in the suburbs of Mumbai from Powai to Mira Road. People started panicking and became scared. The Mumbai police received complaints from Powai, Chembur, Chakala, Goregaon, up to Mira Road.The BMC disaster cell said it first started receiving complaints of the smell at 10:45 pm. A resident in vile parle said that the whole area was smelling of gas. Nine fire engines were then sent to various places to find out the source of leakage. People were panicking and thinking it was their home gas that was leaking. They kept calling their Gas Companies but the phone was engaged.
Mahanagar Gas Limited also released a statement saying there was no leakage from any of its pipes.There were rumours that the leak came from the Rashtriya Chemical Fertiliser Plant in Chembur plant. However they denied it. The BMC is still trying to find the source of the leak.
