Government to Install Panic Button on Phones for Citizens
Indian government plans to install Panic Button on mobile phones for the safety of women and children.
In November Himachal and Nagaland became the first state to launch the an all India emergency number which is “112” which was linked to the ERSS which is the Emergency Response Support System [ERSS].They also launched a Mobile APP called “112 India” which has a Panic Button Linked to the ERSS.
If a person is in danger he/she can press the panic button on the phone. The ERSS will then send a signal to nearest Police Control Room and the persons selected friends or family.The signal will be able to spot the person location through GPS.
The Indian government wants to provide this service to people all over the country. The Ministry of Healthcare and Administration [MHA] said that the government has allocated 329.61 crore under the Nirbhaya Fund to Implement the ERSS system all over the country.
The Government wants to implement this system all over the country for the safety of women and children.
