Government Makes It Easier To Open Stores & Eateries
The Government plan to make the opening of stores & eateries a much easier process with cutting down on paperwork and approvals.
The Government has decided to make some major changes in the way a small business is set up and the number of approvals that are needed to start and run a small shop or restaurant, currently to open a kirana store you require 28 different approvals such as GST registration, licences under Shops and Establishment Act, approvals for insecticides.
A dhaba will require 17 approvals, like fire certificates, clearance from local police and even special license to play music, in comparison to countries like China and Singapore you only require 4 approvals to open something similar, The Indian government has promised to make life easier for entrepreneurs as they hope to get India into the top 50 countries in the Ease Of Doing Business rankings. Currently India is in 77th place.
The National Restaurants Association Of India (NRAI) has said old laws slow down the process. They said that Subway restaurant needs 24 documents from the police in Delhi to start their business but to get a gun you only need 13 documents.
The Department For Promotion Of Industry And Retail Trade (DPIIT) have said that the owners spend all their time just making photocopies trying to keep up with all the inspectors and approvals. They hope to remove the yearly licence renewals as this takes up a lot of time and work every year.
