After 70 days of lockdown in India, the central government had announced Unlock 1 in three phases. The guidelines for the opening of hotels, restaurants, malls and religious places were to be announced separately. 

The government on Thursday, 4th June 2020 issued a new set of guidelines for the opening of shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, offices and religious places. 

I will now tell you the new guidelines that were announced for Religious Places: 

  • All places of worship in non- containment zones will be allowed to open. 

  • All have been ordered to follow strict social distancing rules and other preventive measures and maintain 6 feet distance from each other. 

  • Only asymptomatic will be allowed to enter.

  • If possible, shoes/footwear should be taken off inside their own vehicle Or they should be kept in separate slots by the persons themselves.

  • If possible, arrangements should be made for separate entry and exit doors. 

  • For air conditioning, the guidelines of CPWD should be followed. The temperature on all air conditioners should be 24 to 30 degrees Celsius. 

  • Touching statues/idols/holy books will not be allowed.

  • Common prayer mats should not be used and devotees should bring their own prayer mats.

  • No offerings, example prasad or distribution or a sprinkling of holy water should be allowed inside the religious places.

  • Community kitchens/ ann-daan / langars should practice social distancing guidelines strictly.

  • Use of face covers/masks will be compulsory. 

  • Spitting is strictly prohibited.

  •  All attendees should download the government's Aarogya Setu app.
