Hyderabad Techie Returns Home After 4yrs in Pakistan Jail
Prasanth an engineer from Hyderabad Returned Home After 4yrs in Pakistan Jail.
32-year-old Prasanth an engineer from Cyberabad, Hyderabad met a Switzerland-based woman on social media and fell in love with her. He had met the woman’s parents in Madhya Pradesh proposing to marry her. Upon being rejected in 2017, he decided to get to Switzerland by any means. That time he did not have enough money for a flight ticket. He learnt that one could walk to Switzerland in 61 days and decided to try it. He left home on April 11, 2017, and boarded a train to Bikaner, Rajasthan, and reached the Indo-Pak border. He crossed the border illegally by jumping over the fence. After walking deep into the Pakistan territory, he was apprehended by Pakistan authorities. Pakistan authorities thought he was an Indian spy and put him in jail. His parents had no idea where Prasanth was. The family received a video message from him in 2019 that he was in a Pakistan jail. The family immediately approached the Cyberabad police, the state (Telangana) government, and the Government of India for assistance to bring him back.
The Cyberabad police commissioner said, “Because of a continuous follow up by the Telangana government and Government of India with the pakistan authorities, Prasanth was released from jail and sent back to India 0n 31st May 2021.” After returning to Hyderabad, he said, “I should have listened to my mother and stayed home. I saw several people like me over there, hailing from different states, languishing for years. It is very difficult to come back once you are there because you know the situation between India and Pakistan. I never thought I could return in four years.”
